Ok, at first glance 7 or 8 bucks for a loaf of bread seems absurd. But, sometimes it is worth it, by golly! I am not that much of a "bread" person...but I think I am now addicted to 2 of Great Harvest's breads. 1) Cinnamon Swirl (or cinnamon burst....or some name along those lines) 2) Pumpkin Chocolate Chip I think I could eat either of those every day of my life and not regret it. The staff working there seems very friendly, and here is the best part. You can walk in and try free samples, any day, any time. So, if you feel compelled to understand my addiction to the aforementioned breads or want to find a new one of your own...go try a slice and then you can justify a $7 loaf. Mmm mmm tasty.

Let me start this review by saying that I am glad that we have two Great Harvest's in Fort Collins. I just wish they were as good as some of the other locations I have been to in other cities and states. My regular GH in Omaha, NE had such a wonderful selection, I would hang it on my fridge and anxiously await the days that they would have a favorite such as peach cobbler quick bread. The Fort locations has never had this option but they do put out the monthly schedules they are really limited. They do have a pretty nice pumpkin chocolate chip bread as good as other locations. It'll do because it is close, really wish it was like the Lakewood, CO one though.

I love their sweet bread like Pumpkin w/ Chocolate Chip & Walnut and Coconut Walnut, but my favorites are the Oregon Herb and the the white Dill bread!! These two are the BEST ever!! In the Fall when I have lots of tomatoes from the garden I cook a big roast beef and buy loaves of Dill (Friday) and/or Oregon Herb (Monday) and make roast beef sandwiches for dinner with thick tomatoes, lettuce and mayonnaise on them....my family LOVE this!! These breads are also great for making BLT's and the best grilled ham and cheese sandwiches ever! GH bread is expensive but a nice treat every so often. I love that they give out generous samples....my kids love to come along! :o) I just wish they took Discover.

This is the place they bake all the bread they take to all the other locations! Wow! the smell is fantastic. The Honey Wheat Whole grain is terrific, especially for toast. The carrot cake is incredible. Remember you are encouraged to stop for a free slice whenever you come by, and they slice thick! and it is great. The staff is oh so friendly! I love this place.

Since I was visiting, I'm not sure if this is the location my mom took me to or if it was the other one, but they actually bake the bread there and were very generous with the samples. Because it was Friday, we got to try a new lemon bread with lemon frosting--fantastic! We also got a loaf of the cinnamon which we toast and put under the broiler for a few seconds--amazing! Can't wait to try the bread back in California; it may even be worth the 20-mile drive!

One thing I do not like about living in Orlando is the lack of good bakeries. (at least on my side of town) Every time I travel to Ft Collins, I always stop in at GHBC and buy bread, power bars and cookies. The owner, Julie, is the best! If you've never been there, you have to stop in grab a free slice of bread. If you stop in, tell Julie her friend from Orlando said hi, I'll bet she'll give you an extra slice of the Whole Wheat bread.
